IGNITION INTERLOCK &/or remote alcohol monitoring

INSTALLING THE IGNITION INTERLOCK

COURT ORDERED IGNITION INTERLOCK

There are two ways a client can install ignition interlock. The most common way is through a court order. Once convicted of a DUI or Reckless Driving charge the client may be issued a Restricted Operators License (ROL) from the court. A condition of the ROL for all DUI convictions is to install ignition interlock within 30 days of the court order. In order to get the interlock installed the client will need to choose an interlock vendor from the approved list below.  Once a vendor has been chosen the client will need to notify JTASAP of their vendor choice and the vehicle information. The ASAP office will need:

  • Vehicle Information Number (VIN)
  • Plate Number
  • Year
  • Make
  • Model
  • Name of Registered Owner if different than the client. In this case the client will need to have a form signed by the owner giving them permission to install the device. If the owner will NOT be present at installation the form will need to be notarized. Download the consent to install form at the bottom of this page.

The ASAP office will send an authorization to install to the chosen interlock vendor. It is then up to the client to contact that vendor to set up an installation appointment. Once the interlock has been installed the client will need to bring the installation certificate along with their ROL to the office in order to have their ROL signed and sealed.

COURT ORDERED REMOTE ALCOHOL MONITORING

In some instances, the court ordered remote alcohol monitoring either separately or in tandem with a restricted operator's license. To sign up for this service, the ASAP needs a copy of your court order. The ASAP office will send an authorization to "install" the chosen remote monitoring device. It is then up to the client to contact that vendor to set up an "installation" appointment. The fee for Remote Alcohol Monitoring is $50 per month for the duration that the court has ordered.

DMV ORDERED IGNITION INTERLOCK

If a client has already successfully completed ASAP but did not compete the ignition interlock requirement DMV may require the client install the interlock for a minimum of 6 months before issuing a full license. These clients are instructed to come into the ASAP office to enroll for interlock monitoring.  These clients will need to provide a copy of their compliance summary from DMV. This summary must be no older than 30 days at the time of enrollment. The client will need to provide the vehicle information listed above as well as choose an interlock vendor. Interlock monitoring is $300 ($50 per month for 6 months) that is to be paid to the ASAP office. Any violations will result in additional monitoring fees.

In an effort to reduce office wait times, clients are encouraged to print out the DMV Interlock Enrollment Packet at the bottom of this page to fill out prior to coming to the office to enroll.

**ASAP Fees and Interlock Vendor fees are separate. Clients are responsible for paying the ASAP monitoring their case as well as the interlock vendor. For more information on interlock vendor fees please contact them directly and refer to the interlock brochure located below.
