OUT OF STATE ASAP ENROLLMENT-DUI/rECKLESS DRIVING

If a client has received a DUI in the state of Virginia but does not live in Virginia then an out of state transfer can be completed. The client must enroll at the ASAP that handles the city/county were the conviction occurred. JTASAP serves the cities and counties of: Amelia, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Emporia, Goochland, Greensville, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, Nottoway, Petersburg, Powhatan, Prince George, Richmond City, Surry, and Sussex.

In order to complete this process the client must submit documentation related to their enrollment.

  •  If the client was convicted of the DUI within the past 15 days the client must submit a copy of their court order.
  • If the client needs to satisfy a DMV enrollment requirement for an older offense the client must submit a current copy (within 30 days) of their Virginia Driving Record, Virginia Compliance Summary, and a driving record from their current state of residence.
  • All out of state clients are asked to  fill out the enrollment packet below and submit it with the appropriate enrollment documents.
  • The $300 out of state enrollment fee is due at the time of enrollment. A money order can be mailed with their enrollment documents or the fee can be paid online ONCE THE CLIENT HAS CONFIRMED THE ASAP OFFICE HAS RECEIVED THEIR ENROLLMENT DOCUMENTS. Failure to confirm receipt of documents will result in John Tyler ASAP being unable to process the payment.

Once JTASAP has received all that is listed above, a case manager will contact the client by phone to complete their intake interview and review guidelines for enrolling in a program in their state. Clients are encouraged NOT to begin any education or treatment groups in their state until they have received approval by the case manager.

Clients are also reminded that they are responsible for the cost of the out of state program as well as the $300 ASAP enrollment fee.

WHAT IF THE DUI WAS RECEIVED IN ANOTHER STATE?

If a client lives in Virginia but has to complete ASAP for a DUI received in another state then they are to come into the JTASAP office with the following:

  • Current copy (within 30 days) of their Virginia Driving Record and Compliance Summary
  • Current Driving Record from the state the DUI occurred
  • Any documents related to the charge from court and/or the monitoring authority in that state.
  • Total fees due at enrollment: $400 ($300 ASAP enrollment fee and $100 intervention fee) via Money Order, VISA, MasterCard or Discover ($2 service fee applied to all debit/credit cards)

Filling out the Intake Packet prior to enrolling for an out of state charge is NOT encouraged. Clients need to be prepared to complete those documents in office once it is verified that JTASAP is the correct program based on their out of state requirements.
